0:00–14:00, especially level and first-item timing windows after a clean crash

From the first wave until the first tower pressure, farm while deciding whether the lane favors a freeze near you or a crash for recall tempo. If Gwen can reach the wave without losing too much health, use E to threaten the next last hit and Q when the opponent must stay in range; if the enemy wave is larger, take XP and avoid an extended exchange. Crash before recalling. When ahead, build a slow push and threaten a long-lane all-in; when behind, keep the wave closer to your tower and spend W to deny a clean ranged answer rather than force the center of lane.

Make Q and E windows decide the lane

If the first waves are even and Gwen has Q available, let her last-hit before trading, then disengage before she reaches repeated snips; if her Q is on cooldown and your wave is not hostile, use that short cooldown window to contest the next two last hits or force a crash. Avoid an extended trade inside a larger enemy wave.

With Gwen

• Play around Gwen’s contact window, not just her first dash. If she is walking toward a target with E ready and W available, hold your hard engage or peel until the enemy commits so she can keep attacking inside the mist.
• Give Gwen a wave and a timer. If she has Teleport or the enemy cannot collapse on her, let her push the side lane while the other four threaten the opposite side without forcing a blind 4v5.
• When Gwen is behind, help her reach the fight rather than demanding a blind flank. If the enemy frontline has entered and your team is within one screen, Gwen can follow into the second wave and use sustained damage on the nearest safe target.
• Before Dragon, Grubs, Herald, or Baron, help create a crash 30–60 seconds early. If Gwen can reset after the crash and arrive with mana, her value rises; if she is stuck catching a dangerous wave, the team should trade rather than wait in an incomplete setup.
• Protect the space around her exit. If Gwen’s W is ending or her E window is expiring, peel the diver that reaches her instead of chasing the enemy backline; keeping her alive for the next Q or R cast is often more useful than forcing a second target.
