During the first three waves and each early recall window, decide whether the wave lets you reach the opponent safely. If you can contest, use Q on the champion during a last-hit trade, use W only when its pull will connect without exposing you to the full wave, and leave after the short exchange. If range or all-in pressure denies contact, take XP and preserve health for a crash; your transition is a safe reset, not a forced passive stack.

Build Determination through champion contact

If the first waves are contestable, your Q, W, and E are available, and the opponent must walk up for a last-hit, use Q on the champion during that contact, then disengage before the enemy’s longer combo begins. Q’s champion contact can contribute to Determination through its attacks or ability damage, but minion last-hits do not; if the enemy wave is large or a key spell is down, give ground and preserve health for the next reset.

With Zaahen

• If Zaahen is building Determination in a side lane and the next objective is not in setup, play the opposite side without forcing a fight. Threaten the structure or objective when enemies answer him so his pressure becomes a map trade.
• If Zaahen pulls or knocks up a target and you are within reliable range, damage that target during the control window rather than selecting a separate target. His control is brief; delayed follow-up lets the enemy disengage before his contact creates value.
• If his passive state is ready, let him occupy the first dangerous space while you hold peel or damage for the enemies responding to him. If it is empty, help him reach a target or protect his reset toward the next wave instead of asking him to start alone.
• If Zaahen is split pushing with Teleport and the next objective is not yet in setup, keep the group close enough to punish an over-rotation without starting a losing fight. When setup begins, help him crash and choose between a flank, a regroup, or a safe cross-map trade.
