Friend of the Forest
Ivern cannot attack or be attacked by non-epic monsters. Ivern can create magical groves on jungle camps which grow over time. When the grove is fully grown, Ivern may free the monsters to receive gold and experience.

Game plan · Jungle
Grow safely, catch cleanly, convert immediately
Plan overview
Mark a route toward a lane that can follow Rootcaller or toward the next objective. Let mature groves fund the first cycle; leave only for a visible gank, a safe counter-jungle with priority, or objective setup. Around each objective, push nearby lanes, recall before the 60–90 second vision window, sweep entrances, then use Brushmaker and Triggerseed to control first contact. In fights, Rootcaller creates access, an ally follows, Triggerseed protects the entry, and Daisy occupies space. When ahead, turn picks into camps, structures, and objectives rather than chases. When behind, farm groves and respawns, mirror the enemy jungler, protect the strongest ally, and trade objectives instead of entering a blind Smite fight. Transition from economy to setup, then from setup to disciplined conversion.
Plan by phase
Build the grove cycle before forcing impact
0:00–8:00; first clear, the 2:55 Scuttler, and the approach to the 5:00 dragon window determine whether your economy or a gank leads the game.
Mark groves immediately and choose the first route from three facts: which lane can follow Rootcaller, which side has likely priority, and whether the enemy jungler wins the first contact. A full clear toward the useful Scuttler is the default when lanes have no setup; a three-camp gank is an exception for an exposed target with a real root angle. Before the 2:55 Scuttler, do not trade several camps for a speculative walk. If ahead, use priority to take an opposite camp after the enemy appears; if behind, keep the grove cycle and avoid an unassisted invade.
Game situations
Path
Grow the route, then arrive with a purpose
CONDITIONS: if your lanes lack level-3 setup or the enemy jungler wins the first river duel, and your groves can mature safely, then use a conditioned full-clear pattern toward your strongest objective side. WINDOWS: before the 2:55 Scuttler and during each 2:15 small-camp respawn cycle, prioritize camp economy over a forced gank; change direction when a guaranteed Rootcaller angle appears.
With Ivern
Play near Ivern's route when a gank is plausible: if the enemy is extended and you can reach within one screen, walk toward the Rootcaller angle rather than waiting at maximum distance. His root is the trigger for your dash or follow-up, so preserve your own engage until the target is actually caught. If he marks a camp or leaves to collect a mature grove, do not assume he is abandoning you; use that window to manage the wave and keep the lane ready for the next pass.
When Ivern creates brush, treat it as a planned approach zone rather than a reason to fight immediately. If an objective is 60–90 seconds away, help push the nearest lanes so he can collect groves, recall, and establish vision without sacrificing the timer. If the enemy starts a fight before that setup, stay within one screen when possible: Triggerseed is most valuable when its shielded ally can safely make contact and Ivern can follow with Rootcaller.
In a teamfight, let Ivern choose the catch target while you make the first contact only when Daisy, Triggerseed, or another ally can support it. If Rootcaller lands and Daisy is active, commit quickly to the marked target or the space it opens; do not split into an unrelated chase. When ahead, help convert a pick into a tower or objective. When behind, play around the ally Ivern shields and avoid forcing a blind 5v5.
Identity, strengths and limits
Turn growing camps into guaranteed picks
JUNGLE · CATCHER · GROVE ECONOMY
Ivern is a catcher-support jungler who converts jungle time into a different economy: he creates groves, waits for them to mature, then frees camps for gold and experience without fighting the monsters. His map win condition is to route that passive economy toward lanes that can follow Rootcaller, then turn a root into an ally dash, Triggerseed protection, and a numbers-advantage objective. Brushmaker adds controlled brush for approach and damage windows, while Daisy gives him a durable pressure point in prepared fights. Ivern is not a conventional duelist, damage farmer, or frontline who can enter alone; his value falls when he abandons mature camps for low-probability plays or starts fights outside ally range.
Strengths
A unique grove economy that turns safe camp preparation into gold and experience.
Rootcaller creates catch pressure and an ally dash angle when teammates are close.
Triggerseed can protect an entry while punishing enemies who stay near the shielded ally.
Brushmaker changes approach geometry and improves attacks for Ivern and nearby allies.
Daisy gives prepared objective and teamfight zones an additional controllable threat.
Limits and risks
Leaving mature groves for a gank with no overextension, cooldown window, or ally follow-up.
Invading or contesting Scuttler without nearby lane priority and an exit route.
Starting an objective while the enemy jungler is unseen, the pit is unswept, or your Smite tier is worse.
Using Rootcaller or Triggerseed before the actual engage, then having no tool for the enemy's committed dive.
Treating Daisy as permission to enter alone instead of as pressure inside a team-supported fight.
One idea for your next game
For the next game, measure every early decision against one question: does this play preserve Ivern's growing camp economy while creating a real Rootcaller window? Mark camps early, keep clearing toward the next objective side, and only leave the route when an enemy is exposed or an ally can immediately follow. In fights, use Brushmaker and Triggerseed to make one teammate's entry safe, then let Rootcaller and Daisy turn that contact into a pick. When ahead, invade only with priority and convert a caught target into an objective; when behind, keep groves and catch-up income flowing while trading away fights you cannot set up.
Ivern Bramblefoot, known to many as the Green Father, is a peculiar half man, half tree who roams Runeterra's forests, cultivating life everywhere he goes. He knows the secrets of the natural world, and holds deep friendships with all things that grow, fly, and scuttle. Ivern wanders the wilderness, imparting strange wisdom to any he meets, enriching the forests, and occasionally entrusting loose-lipped butterflies with his secrets.
