Farm through threat and protect the first W windows

0:30–about 14:00; especially the first two waves, cannon-wave recalls, and the 60–90 seconds before dragon

During the opening waves, prioritize CS and XP while reading the bot level race and the enemy's engage threat. If your support and wave give you a clear trade window, use Caustic Spittle or Bio-Arcane Barrage to punish an enemy stepping up, then return to the wave. If the enemy has stronger early all-in access, take the safe XP and preserve health rather than contesting every minion. Crash before recalling; if a dragon setup is approaching, build a wave that can be crashed before you rotate. Your transition is a completed first item or a stable farm lead, not a forced kill.

Lane

Make the first waves a W window, not a coin flip

If the enemy bot lane can threaten an all-in and your wave is smaller or your support's key spell is unavailable, give up the contested last hits rather than fighting inside their minions. If your wave is larger and their engage tool has been used, trade while they step up, then return to farming before the next wave state turns against you.

With Kog'Maw

• If your team has a tank, warden, or reliable peel tool, stand behind that champion and make their defensive cooldowns valuable. Protecting Kog'Maw is not about making him chase the enemy carry; it is about denying the first dive long enough for Bio-Arcane Barrage attacks to land. If the enemy engages, peel the threat that reaches him before pursuing a distant target.
• If you are Kog'Maw's support, shape the lane around his windows: help him secure the level-2 race when the matchup allows, hold engage or disengage for the enemy's commitment, and avoid random wave attacks that break his farm plan. If the wave is crashed before a roam or recall, the ADC keeps income while you create vision or tempo.
• If your team is setting dragon or Baron, push the nearby wave 60–90 seconds before spawn, clear the entrance with information, and let Kog'Maw use Living Artillery from a safe line. If the enemy starts the fight before he arrives or your team is split, disengage rather than asking him to enter first. His damage is strongest when the fight comes through prepared space.
• If Kog'Maw dies near the fight, surviving allies should decide whether Icathian Surprise can punish pursuit or whether retreat preserves the objective. If enemies are low and trapped, create room for the passive to matter; if they are healthy and your formation is broken, move away and reset instead of turning one death into several.
• If Kog'Maw is ahead, route safe farm and objective setups toward him without forcing him into a dangerous side lane. If he is behind, let him catch safe waves and use the team's stronger engage, peel, or pick tools to create a controlled fight rather than demanding that he manufacture one alone.
