Wave first, then choose the entry you can finish

Plan overview

Build the game around three transitions: win or survive the first wave race, crash before each recall or objective move, then choose fights where Nilah has a target and an ally to touch. Her passive rewards safe last-hits with extra experience, so lane pressure can come from level timing rather than constant combat. When ahead, push a wave with your partner, reset together, and arrive first to a dragon or skirmish; use Veil and Apotheosis to turn the enemy's commitment into a sustained fight. When behind, stop forcing melee entries: collect safe experience and gold, trade objectives when setup is lost, and join only when numbers, terrain, or an enemy cooldown creates a real window. In mid game, leave a crashed wave for the next timer; in late game, stay close enough to the team that your entry and defensive tools can affect the same fight.

Start by deciding whether the level-2 race is yours. If you and your support can push the first waves without losing health, use the priority to threaten the enemy's access to experience and create a short Formless Blade trade. If the enemy controls the push, preserve mana and health, take experience when possible, and avoid fighting inside their larger wave. Crash before recalling; Nilah's passive makes safe last-hits especially valuable, so a failed all-in should not replace the wave.

Use the wave to choose the fight

If you and your support can reach the next level first and the enemy duo must walk into the wave to collect experience, push the wave and threaten a short all-in as that level arrives. If the enemy is about to level first or your mana is low, stop contesting the front of the wave, preserve health, and wait for the next crash.

With Nilah

Play around Nilah's wave and level timing rather than asking her to fight on an uncrashed wave. If she and the support can push safely, help secure the crash so she can recall or move first; if the enemy is stronger in the first levels, protect her access to experience instead of forcing a river contest.
Give Nilah a visible target for Slipstream and stay close enough that her entry is not isolated. If she dashes onto an enemy while you are within follow-up range, add your crowd control or damage after the first defensive response; if she is already low or Veil is unavailable, help her disengage rather than extending the chase.
During objective setup, create a narrow but safe entry window: sweep the approach, show the enemy where the fight will happen, and keep one ally near Nilah. If the enemy must walk through a choke, her Apotheosis becomes more threatening; if they are split, help her hold the nearest target instead of demanding a multi-target pull.
When Nilah is ahead, let her collect the safe side wave before the next objective and avoid taking that income for no reason. When she is behind, place the team's first line between her and the enemy engage, so she can enter after key threats are committed rather than gambling on a solo dash.

Identity, strengths and limits

Turn a safe wave into a winning entry

Bottom-lane skirmisher • experience edge, close-range entries, shared defensive windows

Nilah is a melee-range skirmisher in bottom lane who converts safe last-hits into an experience advantage, then uses close-range mobility and defensive timing to win extended fights. Formless Blade gives a brief ranged lane lever; Slipstream creates entry or escape routes; Jubilant Veil can deny incoming attacks for Nilah and an ally she touches; Apotheosis pulls clustered enemies into a finishing fight. She wins by controlling when the duo commits, not by taking every short trade. She is not a conventional backline marksman: if she enters without a target, partner, or Veil window, her limited range and mana can make the failed engage difficult to recover from.

Slipstream gives flexible access to targets or an exit when a valid target is available.
Jubilant Veil can protect Nilah and a touched ally during an incoming attack window.

Recalling or roaming on an uncrashed wave and giving up Nilah's experience economy.
Taking a side-lane fight near an objective when your team cannot arrive or cover the exit.
