Game plan · Jungle
Farm with purpose, strike through fog, cash out the pick
Plan overview
Talon's game plan is a sequence of controlled access windows: clear toward a lane with setup, build Wound stacks with W and Q, use terrain to arrive from an angle, and leave before the counterattack closes. Farm when no target is exposed; a gank earns its cost when it burns an escape spell, creates a kill, or opens an objective. From 8:00 onward, route around the next objective and use fog to force respect for a pick. When ahead, deny camps and side-wave safety, then convert a pick into structures or an objective. When behind, preserve Smite, farm the catch-up window, and trade the opposite side. In fights, wait for peel to be committed, target an isolated carry, and exit through terrain. If there is no target, objective setup, or safe exit, take income instead of forcing a fight.
Plan by phase
Build the first route around a real target
0:00–8:00; first clear, level-3 gank window, Scuttler at 2:55 and dragon from 5:00
Start with a conditioned clear: favor six camps when your lanes lack setup or the enemy wins the early river fight; choose three camps only when a lane is genuinely exposed and your level-3 spells can connect. Finish near a lane with prio or the 2:55 Scuttler window. If a gank does not create a real Wound or summoner window, return to camps. When ahead, invade only with known enemy position and lane support; when behind, mirror-clear away from danger and use catch-up farming.
Game situations
Path
Choose a path that funds the next jump
If your champion can clear the first rotation without needing an early fight, choose a full-clear direction that ends beside the lane or river objective you can actually support. If a lane is overextended, has lost its escape spell, and your level-3 W plus Q can create a real threat, use a three-camp path instead; otherwise preserve camps and reach the next respawn cycle.
With Talon
When Talon is on your team, push the lane he is approaching before the gank window so he can enter behind the wave and leave through terrain. If you are the target's lane opponent, hold your crowd control for his entry or exit rather than spending it on a harmless approach. A crashed wave gives his kill more value because plates, a reset, or river access can follow.
If Talon is setting up dragon, grubs, Herald, or Baron, arrive for the 60–90 second preparation window and help sweep the entrances. He does not need the team to start a blind pit; he needs one teammate holding the route where the enemy jungler must walk. If the enemy shows on the opposite side, help him convert the information into the objective or a camp invade.
When Talon is ahead, play near the side of the map where his next terrain route and your strongest wave meet. If he creates a pick, immediately help take the available tower, camp, wave, or objective instead of chasing a second kill. When he is behind, give him safe access to camps and let him threaten fog while the team clears waves.
In a teamfight, let Talon enter after your first engage or peel exchange if the enemy carry is exposed. If you can force the enemy to spend a dash, stun, or defensive tool on your frontline, Talon's Shadow Assault has a clearer target and exit. Protect his retreat path when he has already used E to enter.
Identity, strengths and limits
Turn route freedom into a numbers advantage
JUNGLE · ASSASSIN · FOG, TERRAIN AND THREE-STACK THREATS
Talon jungle is a mana-based assassin who converts route choice and fog into fast access to fragile targets. His W can build Blade's End Wounds, and a champion at three stacks becomes vulnerable to the bleed when Talon attacks; Q supplies the close-range stab or leap, while E lets him vault terrain but puts each used terrain on a long cooldown. R adds an invisibility and movement-speed window for entry or exit. He is not a front-line initiator or a permanent duelist: he wins by creating numbers advantages, then converting them into camps, towers, or objectives before the enemy can reset.
Strengths
Terrain access creates unusual gank and flank angles.
Three-Wound pressure gives his spell rotation a clear assassination condition.
Q can refund health and cooldown when it kills its target, rewarding clean camp and target selection.
R supplies an entry or exit window through invisibility and movement speed.
Strong at turning an isolated target into a numbers advantage.
Limits and risks
Forcing three-Wound attempts when the target can retreat behind a tower or your laner cannot follow.
Using Assassin's Path across key escape terrain before an objective or countergank window.
Starting a Smite contest while the enemy jungler is unseen, your lanes lack prio, or your Smite tier is worse.
Opening a 5v5 with Shadow Assault before enemy peel and control are committed.
Cross-map ganks that leave respawned camps and the next objective on the wrong side.
One idea for your next game
For the next game, make every play answer one question: can this action create or complete Talon's three-Wound pattern without stranding me? Before a gank, check the target's distance from safety, your laner's ability to follow, and your exit terrain. Before an objective, use the same rule to threaten the entrance rather than blindly starting. If no target is exposed, clear the camp on your route and preserve the next Assassin's Path angle. Your test is not a kill total; it is whether your deaths came after a real three-stack or objective setup, rather than from forcing the first visible target.

Talon is the knife in the darkness, a merciless killer able to strike without warning and escape before any alarm is raised. He carved out a dangerous reputation on the brutal streets of Noxus, where he was forced to fight, kill, and steal to survive. Adopted by the notorious Du Couteau family, he now plies his deadly trade at the empire's command, assassinating enemy leaders, captains, and heroes… as well as any Noxian foolish enough to earn the scorn of their masters.
