Farm the window, then spend it once the map pays you

Plan overview

Lane for wave control and health, not for a forced all-in. Build Mortal Steel stacks while tracking whether the enemy wave, jungle location, and your return path support a trade. Crash before recalls and roams. In mid game, take a side wave, create a response, then move for a visible skirmish or objective setup. Ahead, make Soul Unbound threaten space while your team converts the enemy's answer into towers or neutral objectives. Behind, preserve experience, take safe waves, and enter fights only after enemy control is committed. Transition from lane trades to side pressure, then from side pressure to selective second-wave teamfighting.

Your early goal is to reach useful wave states without donating health to full enemy waves. Use Mortal Steel on the wave and on last-hit approaches, track Gathering Storm stacks, and use Spirit Cleave when its shield can cover a meaningful trade. If you gain push and health control, crash before recalling or moving. If behind, accept experience and safe CS near your side; your transition is a completed reset, not a forced early duel.

Trade around wave and stack state

If the first waves are contested and Yone can reach the enemy with a full wave behind him, use short trades around last hits and disengage before the enemy wave becomes the main damage source. If your wave is pushing and his key trade tool has been used, crash before recalling; if the wave is pushing toward him, hold the fight and farm rather than forcing an extended duel.

With Yone

If Yone has a crashed mid wave and Soul Unbound available, give him a visible target or angle rather than starting a disconnected fight; his pressure is strongest when allies can follow the spirit's damage before the return. If he is building Mortal Steel stacks, hold crowd control for the moment he commits so his entry creates space for the rest of the team.
If your team is setting up dragon, the three-Voidgrub camp, Rift Herald, or Baron, help Yone arrive after the nearby wave is pushed and the entrances are swept. A teammate who reveals the flank or forces enemy peel gives Fate Sealed a more reliable line; standing far away while he enters turns a reversible tool into a solo death.
If Yone is ahead in a side lane, let him draw the first response while other players pressure a structure or establish objective vision. If he is behind, place him on the safer wave and let the main carry receive contested farm; play around his second-wave entry instead of asking him to start a 5v5.

MID · SKIRMISHER

Yone is a primary skirmisher who converts repeated close-range access into sustained damage, shields, and a forced return through Soul Unbound. His basic abilities cost no resource in the supplied kit; he does not rely on a Flow mechanic here. Mortal Steel builds Gathering Storm stacks, and at two stacks its next cast dashes with a gust that knocks enemies Airborne. He wins through side-lane pressure, selective flanks, and extended fights where Way of the Hunter adds magic damage to every second Attack alongside his physical output. He is not a front-line initiator or a champion who can spend every cooldown for a highlight: if the spirit return, wave state, or ally follow-up is unsafe, his entry can become a predictable death.

One idea for your next game

For the next game, make every aggressive move pass one question: do I have a real return window? Use Soul Unbound when the wave, enemy cooldowns, and ally distance let you pressure without needing a miracle kill. If the spirit starts a fight but your target escapes and the return path is unsafe, stop chasing and take the wave or reset. Turn Yone's reversible entry into repeatable pressure, not a demand that every Soul Unbound cast produce a kill.

In life, he was Yone—half-brother of Yasuo, and renowned student of his village's sword school. But upon his death at the hands of his brother, he found himself hunted by a malevolent entity of the spirit realm, and was forced to slay it with its own sword. Now, cursed to wear its demonic mask upon his face, Yone tirelessly hunts all such creatures in order to understand what he has become.
