Game plan · Mid
Crash, create an angle, convert the pick
Plan overview
Play lane for CS and a controlled crash, then turn each prepared wave into an angle: E from fog or terrain, a redirected long-flight Q, and More Sparkles! to finish the first hit. Spell Thief changes the value of every skirmish, so note which enemy summoner or active cast is available before choosing a fight. After laning, schedule movement around the next objective rather than grouping without purpose. When ahead, use picks to take structures, deny waves, and control entrances; when behind, clear safely and look for isolated targets or cross-map income. In every phase, Portal Jump is a one-second test with a known return point, not permission to enter first.
Plan by phase
Build a lane window, not a permanent brawl
Early lane: first waves through the first recall; act after a crash, an enemy cooldown, or a visible enemy movement mistake.
From the first waves until your first useful reset, prioritize safe CS, mana, and a wave state that lets you act. Trade when the enemy walks for a minion or has spent a key movement tool; Q can be redirected for a better line, but a long cast is only valuable if the enemy cannot sidestep or punish the setup. Use E through terrain or from fog when the target must walk into its path. If ahead, crash waves before pressuring river. If behind, farm the safe side of the wave and treat E as deterrence rather than a reason to step forward.
Game situations
Lane
Trade on their last hit, not on cooldown
If the enemy must walk toward a last hit and your Q or E is ready, hold your position until that commitment, then use the spell and follow with Zoe's empowered basic attack when the target cannot immediately answer. If the wave is large and hostile, take the short trade instead of extending into minion damage.
With Zoe
If Zoe is holding E and the enemy must pass through a choke, give her time to set the angle instead of starting the fight in the open. Your job is to occupy the target's escape route or provide the first damage after sleep; if the bubble misses, disengage or wait for the next setup rather than forcing her to enter alone.
When Zoe has pushed mid and is moving toward an objective, follow the information she creates. Stand close enough to punish an enemy who dodges E or Q, but do not walk ahead into unwarded entrances. If she lands sleep and the target is reachable, layer damage after the sleep; if not, use the space to secure vision or the objective.
If Zoe is ahead, give her the safest available side wave or mid access without demanding that she face-check for the team. Convert her pick threat into a tower or objective while the enemy is missing. If she is behind, protect her from first contact and help her hold a choke, because her burst needs distance and a target who cannot immediately reach her.
Identity, strengths and limits
Prepare the angle. Break sleep. Bank the pick.
Burst mage with artillery angles, stolen spell resources, and high-risk Portal Jump scouting
Zoe is a burst mage with artillery reach: she wants to create an unexpected E angle, mark a target with Sleepy Trouble Bubble, then make the first damage that breaks sleep count through the doubled hit and reduced Magic Resist. Paddle Star! rewards distance and redirection, while More Sparkles! adds a basic-attack payoff after casting. Spell Thief gives her a changing economy: enemy summoner spells and active item casts become temporary tools, and her own summoner casts create missiles. She is not a frontliner, sustained DPS mage, or reliable first-entry engager; her value falls when she spends key spells into open space without a conversion window.
Strengths
Long-range burst when E enables the first damaging hit.
Q redirection creates flexible poke and finishing angles.
Spell Thief supplies opportunistic summoner and active-spell value.
E can threaten from fog, terrain, and objective approaches.
Portal Jump briefly tests angles without permanently committing Zoe.
Limits and risks
Forcing Portal Jump into uncovered ground; Zoe returns to a predictable area after the blink.
Fishing E repeatedly while the wave or objective timer demands a crash, reset, or rotation.
Treating a stolen spell shard as a guaranteed kill instead of a conditional resource.
Entering open 5v5s after missing E, where Zoe loses reliable burst setup.
Chasing after a pick instead of taking the wave, tower, or objective it unlocked.
One idea for your next game
For the next game, make every roam and fight pass one test: did the wave crash, and can Zoe's E or a long-flight Q create a target before you enter? Zoe wins by converting prepared angles into burst, not by walking first into open space. After a successful pick, immediately bank it in a wave, tower, or objective instead of hunting a second target in fog.

As the embodiment of mischief, imagination, and change, Zoe acts as the cosmic messenger of Targon, heralding major events that reshape worlds. Her mere presence warps the arcane mathematics governing realities, sometimes causing cataclysms without conscious effort or malice. This perhaps explains the breezy nonchalance with which Zoe approaches her duties, giving her plenty of time to focus on playing games, tricking mortals, or otherwise amusing herself. An encounter with Zoe can be joyous and life affirming, but it is always more than it appears and often extremely dangerous.
