Farm, darken the map, isolate, convert

Plan overview

Farm toward your first reliable power window, then make the map dark before you commit. Early, prioritize camps unless a lane is overextended, missing its escape, and reachable after your clear. Mid game, work backward from the next objective: clear toward its side, help create wave priority, sweep and ward 60–90 seconds early, then use Paranoia to remove the enemy's information before a pick or secure. Ahead, invade and deny camps only when position and prio make the exit credible; behind, mirror-clear, protect your winning side, and wait for an isolated target. Late game, enter as a second wave, block the spell that prevents fear, and convert the kill immediately. Nocturne wins through prepared numbers advantages, not repeated 1v5 launches.

Build the first threat without donating tempo

0:00–8:00, especially the first clear, crab, and first dragon or grub setup windows

Start with a conditioned full clear when your lanes lack setup or your early river fight is uncertain; path so the clear ends near the lane that can become vulnerable after the next wave. A three-camp deviation is justified if the enemy is overextended and your lane can hold them in Unspeakable Horror range. After the first play, return to respawning camps instead of repeating a low-probability gank. If behind, farm for the jungle quest and avoid fights without lane arrival.

Choose farming unless the lane offers a real entry

If your lanes lack reliable setup or you do not win a level 3 river fight, then use a conditioned full clear toward the lane you want to pressure after crab. If a lane is pushed past the river with its escape tool unavailable, break the route for a gank; otherwise value camps and the jungle quest over a low-probability walk.

With Nocturne

If Nocturne is on your team and he has Paranoia ready, push the nearest wave or move within follow-up distance before he casts. A visible ally who arrives late turns his darkness into a solo launch, while a nearby ally converts the first fear into a numbers advantage.
If you are playing a carry, hold your damage until Nocturne's target is feared or committed. When he blocks the first control spell with Shroud of Darkness, use your next available damage or peel tool; do not spend every response before his barrier is tested.
If the team is ahead after a Nocturne pick, move with him toward the exposed objective side and help turn the death timer into a structure, camps, or objective. If the pick occurs without a safe conversion, cover his retreat and reset instead of extending the chase.
If Nocturne is behind, give him a reachable target rather than demanding an early engage. Push first and fight where he can approach through a Dusk Trail; his value rises when the enemy must answer a wave or objective and cannot freely retreat.

Identity, strengths and limits

Turn darkness into a numbers advantage

Jungle assassin | information denial into isolated kills

Nocturne is a mana-based jungle assassin who converts farm and information into sudden isolation kills. Duskbringer gives him a Dusk Trail that improves movement through units, Move Speed, and Attack Damage; Shroud of Darkness can block one enemy ability; Unspeakable Horror becomes a fear if the target cannot escape its range; Paranoia removes enemy ally vision before a launch. Umbra Blades reward repeated attacks with area damage and healing, so he wants short, prepared entries that become sustained only when the target is trapped. He is not a front-to-back tank, an automatic early ganker, or a champion who should launch into a visible group without an exit.

Strengths

Paranoia creates a short information advantage that can isolate a carry.
Duskbringer improves pursuit and damage while letting Nocturne move through units.
Shroud of Darkness can deny one decisive enemy ability during an entry.
Umbra Blades sustain repeated attacks and add area pressure in extended skirmishes.

Limits and risks

Launching with Paranoia while your team is out of range or the enemy has layered peel.
Forcing level-three ganks when the lane is not overextended or your fear cannot complete.
Using Shroud of Darkness for damage before identifying the spell that stops your entry.
Invading or contesting an objective without enemy-jungle information and nearby lane priority.
Winning a pick but spending the death timer chasing instead of taking camps, towers, or an objective.

One idea for your next game

For the next game, make every Paranoia cast answerable with one sentence: who is isolated, what ally or objective follows, and where is my exit? If those conditions are unclear, keep farming toward the next setup instead of launching for damage alone. Your kit is strongest when vision denial creates a short numbers advantage, then Duskbringer and Unspeakable Horror turn that advantage into a controlled kill.
